My son Wesley had this idea for creating a Frankenstein hat (which we dubbed the Franken-Hat). Easy project that was a lot of fun. Enjoy!
Gather your supplies:
- Large "square-bottom" juice container
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
- Spray paint (we used black, fern green and metallic silver)
- SHARP scissors or Xacto Knife
Cut the Bottom
The bottom of the jug is your cap. For the Franken-Cap we left "extra" space to make a "high" forehead. Used the knife to puncture the jug, and sharp scissors to cut. I DO recommend that you draw a reference line to keep your cuts straight!
We used the spouts from 2x 2.5 gallon water jugs as our electrodes. We used hot glue to glue them in place. Not much weight and they held very well. For a more permanent adhesion — you could definitely use SuperGlue.
Use hot glue to "draw" hair. You do not need a lot — just enough to give the connotation of hair. Starting at the front — we created a simple part down the middle — and "drew" hair lines. For the sides and back, we simply "drew" lines straight down running from the top to the bottom.
Paint & Wear
The glue dries fast. We then used spray paint to color our hat.
Spray the entire exterior with your base color... ours was green.
Spray the "hair" with the black — using a piece of scrap paper to "mask" the parts you did not want paint on.
Once all had dried, we masked the electrodes — and sprayed those silver.
